I am an advocate for common sense policy that reflects Newton’s values.

For Newton, the time is now to stand up and reinforce or implement policies that truly reflect who we are as a community.  This includes:

OUR COMMUNITY

Quality of life for all, including efforts to support our most vulnerable residents. This includes the development of a range of housing options that are livable, affordable and age-friendly, inclusive of people with varying needs and capacities.

THOUGHTFUL DEVELOPMENT AND CITY PLANNING

I encourage smart growth that will increase the commercial tax base, revitalize our village centers and commercial areas, enhance the pedestrian experience, and create welcoming places for community gatherings.

This includes supporting infrastructure that encourages walking and biking, prioritizes safety, looks to best practices, and utilizes technology to address traffic and congestion.

FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT

I will work with others on the City Council and the new Mayor to pursue policies and initiatives that will keep Newton a first-rate city while being mindful and judicious with the city’s financial resources.

EDUCATION

Schools that support all students, providing education and skills that equip our children for the dynamic world in which they will live.

ENVIRONMENT AND
GREEN SPACE

With the reality of climate change upon us, there is greater need for us to be careful stewards of our green spaces and natural resources. It is important to sustain and protect Newton’s many parks and conservation areas, which provide valuable habitats for plants and wildlife and provide recreational opportunities for the city’s residents.
